10 Reasons Dale Earnhardt, Jr Should Use Twitter

I’m a huge supporter of NASCAR drivers using Twitter to connect with fans. As I mentioned in Brad Keselowski Tweets His Way Into NASCAR History, NASCAR fans want personal interaction with their favorite drivers. Social Media does that beautifully – especially Twitter.
Drivers connecting with their fans is more important than a lot drivers realize. Though many of them do a great job reaching out to their fans on Twitter, there are some who refuse to participate. I must admit, I was pretty shocked when Dale Earnhardt, Jr asked an interviewer for 10 good reasons to use Twitter.
To me it’s a not just a no brainer, it’s a necessity. I took to my keyboard, and here are the 10 reasons I came up for Junior to start using Twitter.
- Quick, easy way to keep fans updated and share photos.
- You can do it from anywhere with a smart phone or tablet.
- Only 140 characters – Don’t have to spend a lot of time writing.
- It’ll enhance you sense of humor.
- It’ll make it your fans happy.
- You can connect with your fellow competitors.
- All the cool drivers are doing it.
- You can promote your sponsor product.
- It’s the number one tool used for breaking news, traffic and severe weather.
- Because you’ll have more followers than any other NASCAR driver.
[ On November 13, 2012 I've added another reason, #11]
- If Dale Jr had his own Twitter account, he wouldn't have to borrow National Guard's Twitter for the day to answer his fan's questions.
Now, I bet Junior can’t come up with 10 reasons to not use Twitter. If given the opportunity, I would ask him if he values his fans less than those drivers who are reaching out to their fans on Twitter.
I would love your feedback. Do you think Twitter is a good tool to help drivers and fans connect? Should Dale Earnhardt, Jr Tweet?

I think twitter is good for everyone to use, be informed and meet new friends. Look…I met you!!!!
It can only help Nascar obtain more followers…..
Thanks for you feedback, Jim. Social media is bringing the world closer.
Glad to have met you and to have you as my Twitter friend!
GREAT site and love the post. I can't wait to share it with my husband he is a huge NASCAR fan and a huge Jr fan. If Jr were on Twitter, I think that would be the one thing that would get my husband more interested in tweeting.
Kim, that cracks me up. He needs you to be his social media manager!
I would be thrilled if Dale Jr took to twitter! Yes, he would get more followers then anyone.. Would be nice to get a followback! I love all your ten reasons, they are right on! I was on twitter before the Daytona 500, but Brad K tweeting that night absolutely made me a twitter FREAK! Love the interaction with folks in Nascar that I would normally NEVER get to speak with! Keep the great blogs coming Dana!! You rock! #TMSFanCrew
